The Scriptures foretold that the Savior of the world would be born in Bethlehem. So it was that a census forced Mary and Joseph to travel from their hometown of Nazareth to the city of Bethlehem. There, they had nowhere else to stay but in a stable, and it was in these lowly circumstances that Jesus, the Savior of the world, was born. He is Emmanuel, “God with us.”
